Evening Update – Friday, October 2nd, 2015

Folks,

Well, well, well. An interesting talk we had on the livestream, yes? Let’s sum up what we hope was a great way to end your week!

First, our next Friday Night Fights session is up and running. If you are an Alpha, Beta 1, or IT Backer, you have 24 hours to check out the latest version of the build. Check your mail for all the fun details about the current build.

Secondly, we announced the winning trio from our class reveal voting. The winner was Trio B, a hybrid mage/healer archetype we are calling “The Devout”. Here’s the trio, revealed in all its concept art glory!

If you want to watch the class reveal livestream, head over to here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgKmLrJFcbQ). If you just want just the facts, jack! Head over here (http://camelotunchained.com/v2/class-reveal-devout/). As per the video, as the classes are put into the game, the information about each class will be expanded and filled out in even greater detail. Oh, you have to click on each piece of concept art and then on the arrows to see the revealed classes.

BTW, I love these class concepts and the name of the archetype, and well, it came from Max and Bull riffing off each other. As to the gameplay, check out the details about the classes on their page, linked again here (http://camelotunchained.com/v2/class-reveal-devout/). Pay particular attention to the Abbott, especially at the bottom of his class card. 🙂

And the news kept on coming today. After the class reveal, we talked, in great detail, about the beginning of Beta testing. For more information, head over here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgLIQj4S9bw). Some highlights from the video were:

  • Next week, we will update our website by adding a detailed list of all the “big ticket” items that we consider necessary for the opening of Beta 1 testing.
  • That we will not rush nor cheapen Beta by cutting out features, or having a lackluster Beta simply for the sake of getting into Beta. That’s not why we have all donated to make this game happen.
  • Our goal is to get the game in Beta before the end of this winter.
  • From now until Beta begins, all of our Stretch Goals will focus on hiring/contracting to push the delivery date of THE CURRENT FEATURE SET of the game. We will not, under any circumstances, hire additional people to add new features, art, etc. Hitting our dates and maintaining our expected quality level is what counts. To do otherwise would be a betrayal of trust, and well, that’s not the way we do things.

From what we have seen so far, you Backers are as excited as we are about today’s reveals. I hope so anyway, because, well, on a personal level I’ve staked my own design reputation on laying out the vision for these classes. I’m excited by all the trios, and while they are far from done and perfect, I think that they represent a great jumping-off point for our class system. And from today’s trio, I hope you get the kind of flavor, lore, mechanics, and other fun stuff that we want to have in this game. And for those of you who played Dark Age of Camelot and/or Warhammer, I hope you’ll see some of the same push for a fusion of quality, lore, and humor, which was present in those games.

Speaking of the class reveals, we sent out the 2nd survey for the class voting. Who will be the winner this time?

And to end the day right, here are some screenshots from the current build of the engine. As usual, they have not been retouched, other than adding the screenshot watermark.

I hope you all have a good weekend, and I hope to see a lot of you on the Forums/FNF!
