Privacy Policy

Our mission at City State Entertainment, LLC. (CSE) is to create fun and compelling entertainment in many different forms and as part of that mission, we have created this website. Today, more than ever, people are concerned about their online privacy and especially what companies are doing with the information that they may gather from people while they are online. As gamers ourselves, we share these concerns and as such, we have created a user privacy policy ("UPP") that we hope you will find meets those concerns.

Please read this document carefully. It is CSE's UPP. This policy covers how CSE treats Personally Identifiable Information ("PII") that CSE collects and receives, including information related to your past use of CSE products and services, including this website. Personally identifiable information is information about you that can be traced directly back to and identifies an individual. PII includes your name, address, employer, email address, or phone number. If you are reading this UPP directly on our website, then this policy is our current one. While we reserve the right to make changes to this policy, we will only do so only after posting the updated UPP on our website. Since we do not require people to actually sign up (or give us an active email) to access our website or to play our games, we will not send the new policy through email, you will have to visit our website once in a while to check on any changes, updates or global thermonuclear event that has happened since you visited us the last time.

This policy applies only to PII collected by CSE or its subsidiaries, partners (marketing or otherwise) and affiliates or products available where this Privacy Policy is posted (the "Site") and does not apply to any other information collected by CSE and its affiliated entities through any other means. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies that CSE does not own or control or to people that CSE does not employ or manage. In other words, if the CSE logo is not on the game, website or the flux capacitor that you are currently using, our UPP does not apply.

Now that we have your attention, here are some key things to keep in mind. First, since you are visiting this website and reading this policy, you hereby agree, acknowledge and pinkie swear that it is okay with you that your PII will be used as described in this document. Second, that as long as we don't make any substantive changes to our UPP, that even if we were to share that information with a partner, subsidiary, etc. that it is also okay with you. However, before you can say Danger Will Robinson Danger, please read the entire document, as we have no interest whatsoever in giving/selling your information to the Evil Alliance of Internet Marketing Weasels especially since OUR OWN PERSONAL INFORMATION would also be included. Finally, you agree that all your base are belong to us! Okay, maybe not the last bit but everything else is important to both you and to CSE so please read this entire document carefully and we know that you have many choices for game and website provides so thank you for flying CSE today.

Information Collection and Use

CSE collects personal information when you register with CSE, or when you use CSE products or services. In registering with CSE, we may ask you to provide us with your real name, e-mail address, phone number, and shipping address depending on which services of CSE you are using. Here's the current list of information that we may track when you become a CSE customer:

1) Technical information - It is kind of important for us to know about what device you are using when you are playing our games and visiting our website. While we would love it if everything we create runs flawlessly on all devices in the known multiverse, unfortunately, bad things happen to good platforms at times. Additionally, depending on the platform you are playing our games on, we may want to send you updates to our games/services directly and to do that, we have to know what updates to send to your specific device. Sending updates to a PC that were intended for an iPad results in very bad things happening, trust us, it's not pretty. We will also track things such as your IP Address and other Internet related information and our website may use cookies (only the good tasty kind, not the bad kind) when you are on our website(s). Cookies are small text files that we place in visitors' computer browsers to store their preferences. The cookies we might use do not contain any PII. "Web beacons" are small pieces of code placed on a web page to monitor the behavior and collect data about the visitors viewing a web page. For example, web beacons can be used to count the users who visit a web page or to deliver a cookie to the browser of a visitor viewing that page. We may use web beacons on our Site from time to time for this purpose. Whenever you visit the CSE website, CSE also receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, CSE cookie information, and the pages you request, and relates it to the PII you provide

2) Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest Oh My! - Some people say this whole social networking thing might take off and be important one day and while we are skeptical about it, who knows, so we want to cover all our bases (remember, we own your bases too) just in case, On the off-chance that any of our players actually belong to a SNS, we might need to send it some information and it might want to send us some of your information (you must agree to that of course on your social network of choice). So, if you do consent to share that information with us, assume that we have shared that information with them as well. And as always, if you don't want to consent, no worries, it's not like we need to know that your BFF's third cousin's youngest son's BFF's oldest brother just broke up with his girlfriend of one week.

3) Highly confidential personal information (say that slowly in a hushed voice while playing ominous music - seriously, this is the really important stuff) - Over the years we plan on adding lots of cool stuff to buy from CSE and in order to make sure that the right person gets billed for it, we have to have your accurate billing information. Now, we do not require that you give us this information before you make a purchase and if you don't want to give us that information, that's fine with us but it will mean you'll have to purchase your own personalized CSE Wayback Machine from someone else. However, if you find a site where you can make purchases without having to give out any personal and/or billing information, please let us know, because some of the guys and gals here would just love to say that they are Elmer J, Fudd, millionaire, they own a mansion and a yacht before going on a wild spending spree. In addition, every so often you might hear from us asking you how are we doing as a company and entertainment provider. Without that information, especially your own email address, it makes it harder to ask you these things and we really want to make our games and services better and doing so begins with you (well, actually it begins with us but we're trying to be nice and flatter you).

4) Game and game-playing metrics - As we develop our games, the team pays a lot of attention to how people play our games so we can fix and tweak things to provide a better experience for our customers. However, nothing beats the information gathered when billions and billions of players (a fellow can dream can't he?) play our games after actually buying them. This information is very helpful when it comes to deciding on new content, tweaks and even new products to create for our once and future customers. So please help us out and let us get this information from you without having to rely on thumbscrews.

5) .Family and friends information - Let's say that we have a game where you can actually send things to your friends like real-life gifts or even things within our games. Just as in (2), we do need to know who to send things to either through the mail or email otherwise we have to deal with a bunch of unhappy people. While we don't have anything currently to sell, that's the plan Stan, so we might as well ask now and save you the trouble of having to read this document so soon after reading it the first time.

6) Communications with us directly - Hey, we love our customers and some of you we hope will actually love us back too (but not in that creepy Internet stalker way, k, thanx, bye!) so we may end up communicating via methods known and unknown. If the time comes to break up and say "Bye Bye Love", it's really easy for you. Just head on over to: http://www.citystateentertainment.com/byebyelove and you will no longer receive newsletters, general information or other such fascinating documents. We do reserve the right though to send you emails about your account in case something bad has happened or in response to your queries but no more newsletters and updates!

A bit of a general belt and suspenders overarching legal statement, CSE may choose to use the information described herein for the following general purposes: to fulfill your requests for products and services, to improve our products and services, to contact you, conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external clients. Once you have registered or have purchased CSE products, we reserve the right to send you certain communications relating to the CSE service, such as service announcements, administrative messages and the CSE Newsletter, that are considered part of your CSE account, without offering you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving them (but again, you can always say ByeByeLove as per (6) above).

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Let us start with one very, very important point. CSE DOES NOT RENT, LEASE, LICENSE AND/OR SELL YOUR PII WITH ANYBODY OTHER THAN A SUBSIDIARY OF OUR COMPANY AND THAT COMPANY MUST FOLLOW THE SAME UPP AS CSE . Let's say we set up a separate company in Singapore to handle the data for all of our Asian customers. We might want to have a global repository of information (Colossus, the CSE project) from which we track all of our customers, that would be okay wouldn't it? OTOH, we would not set up Colossus so it would then sell that information to other companies even if it would profit us to do so. However, we might share PII about you with other people or non-affiliated companies, under the following circumstances: to provide products or services you've requested, when we have your permission, or under the following additional circumstances: we provide the information to trusted partners who work on behalf of or with CSE under confidentiality agreements. These companies may use your PII to help CSE communicate with you about offers from CSE and our marketing partners. However, these companies do not have any independent right to share this information and if they do so knowingly or maliciously and we become aware of it, we will terminate our agreements with them. That's not kosher in our and we answer to a higher authorityand he doesn't like people and/or companies that break agreements one little bit. We might also need to share your PII if we need to make licensing and/or other payments to partners of our company and we are required to prove that we actually had billions and billions of customers.

Your credit card information is used only for payment processing and fraud prevention. Credit card information and other sensitive personal information required to process a purchase is not used for any other purpose by our financial services providers (unless they are lying to us as well) or us and will not be kept longer than necessary for providing the services offered by us.

We may disclose PII in response to legal process, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena. Sorry about this but we aren't about to take a fall for you if you've been a naughty boy/girl when it comes to doing bad things on or to the Internet. We also may disclose PII in response to a law enforcement agency's request, or where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of any applicable Terms of Service or End User Access and License Agreement (EUALA), to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our products and applicable laws, or as otherwise required or permitted by law or consistent with legal requirements. In addition, we may transfer PII about you if we or one of our business units are acquired by, sold to, or merged with another company.

Confidentiality and Security

We have taken steps to assure that all information collected will remain secure and in its original form, i.e., free from any alteration. As such, access to all personal information is strictly controlled. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures in an effort to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect online. However, no system is perfect and after all, hacking by groups such as Anonymous and other talented teams can even bring down the "big boys" so we cannot ever guarantee that the steps we have taken and will take make this system unhackable, unbeatable and/or 100% secure. If anyone can promise that and back it up, let us know, we want to work with them. We do promise to do what we reasonably can to protect your information (again, our information is there too), consistent with industry practices.

We are particularly sensitive to visitors' security concerns regarding the use of credit cards to purchase CSE's products. For orders placed on our Site, we use a technology that automatically encrypts credit card data while information is being transmitted over the Internet, provided that the visitor's browser supports the Secure Socket Layer protocol (SSL). For all credit card transactions, we will not store anything but the last four digits of your account other than we use it to make a one-time transaction after which our servers will get a case of amnesia and forget all the other digits.

To verify the security of your PC's web connection at our Service, check the lower left corner of your browser window after accessing the server. If you see an unbroken or a closed lock, then SSL is active and the server is secure. You may also check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the Site address will change from "http" to "https". If you do not see the lock and/or the https, do not complete the transaction with us (and generally other providers as well) because the transaction may be comprised.

We urge all of our players, customers and friends to do their part in keeping their devices and browsers virus-free. Please, update your PC, Macs, iPads, Tablets software as required by the manufacturers. If you are still using an abacus or a 10 year old copy of Windows though, there's nothing we can do for you. Make sure that you have done everything you can to protect your own devices with anti-virus, anti-spyware but not Auntie Em (she's a sweetie) software. There's lots of great stuff out on the Internet but there's a lot of bad things too, protect yourself in the clinches (or is that clichés?) and everything will be fine.

When you create an account with CSE, you are required to give us a password for that account to protect it from unauthorized access, use and/or abuse. It is your job to keep this password safe on your end while it is our job to keep it safe on our end. CSE is not responsible for a lost, stolen, disclosed, misused, phished, hacked (unless our servers our hacked) password and for any consequences resulting from the loss of your password. We're sorry but if you gave your password to your friend and he used up all your CSE credits, we will not restore them. BTW, NOBODY AT CSE WILL EVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD, NEVER EVER! If we need to access your account, guess what, we can do so of course, your account is on own our servers so if somebody sends you an email asking for your password, it won't be us. So, just like keeping your virus protection, OS, etc. up to date, be smart about giving out your password as well.

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits you to request and obtain from us once a year, free of charge, information about the personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. If applicable, this information would include a list of the categories of personal information that was shared and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared information in the immediately preceding calendar year. If you do not want your name and contact information to be shared with any company or organization, you may notify us at any time by writing to us at the email and or regular mail address below. However, since we are good guys and gals, even if you are not a California resident, we will be happy to extend to you the same courtesy. We will need your real contact information (so if you didn't give it to us in the beginning, you need to do so before we give you the information of course). We will process these requests on a bi-yearly basis but if you really, really want to get the information faster you will need to pay a small processing fee. Oh and BTW, you have to be a registered and paying customer to get this information simply because if you have not bought anything and/or did not give us the correct information, we have nothing to share do we? If you want to do this, please send us an email at privacy@citystateentertainment.com.

Banners and In-Game Advertising

While most of us wish that there was no advertising in games and/or websites, that is one of the ways for companies like ours to stay in business and as such, you can expect to see advertising in our games (especially our free ones, ‘natch) and other products. In order to accomplish this, we will work with other companies to deliver these ads for our games and services. As part of this we may place cookies, web beacons and other non-spyware on your computer and/or device (as fully permitted and compliant with the rules and regulations for that device) in order to accomplish this. However, as per our UPP we will not share your PII with these companies including, but not limited to, such things as demographic information ("Dude, are you really a girl?") or other such stuff. We may have advertising because we have to in order to make sure we can continue to make games (not all of us can get huge tracts of "dumb money" investors like some people we know) but we can ensure that we treat your information as we want our own information treated if we actually use advertising to help pay our bills.

Beam me up Scotty!

Even though we have covered this before, in case you really don't want to participate in some of this stuff and you want out, here's a summary of your options:

1) If you don't want to share any personal information with us - It's simple, don't share it. Being a CSE "Friend" (when you actually give us your information) comes with all sorts of cool benefits but it is not required for playing any of our current or even planned games. So, if you don't want to share the information, you may not qualify for certain benefits but all of the in-game content of the game you bought (or got with a free version) is available for you to play.

2) I love your games but dude, I hate your freaking newsletters - We love you too man so all you need to do is go to http://www.citystateentertainment.com/byebyelove and once there, follow the instructions. We'll still be best buddies but no more newsletters from us to you.

3) I like pie but hate cookies - Okay, we don't like some cookies either so all you need to go is disable them on your browser (you're on your own for this, we can't help you with tech support for that). As a result, some things on our website/browser-based games may not work anymore but that goes with the territory. Additionally, if we do have advertising on our website or in our games there may be more specific instructions in the future as to how to deal with them individually and/or as a group. Please check back here regularly for more information.

Age Restrictions

While our games are developed for a wide demographic, we are not making games specifically for children. Also, we have zero interest in gathering information about your children. Please note that if you are a parent of a child under the age of 13 or a child under the age of 13, that children of that age should only use our site with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. Remember parents, it's up to you to make sure that you know where your children are online, that's not our job.
