New Update includes new Pre-Alpha Testing information and Part 2 of the Golem Story!!!
Evening Update – Friday, September 19th, 2014
Sorry about the late update but it’s been a long day but productive day here at CSE. First, we have checked off quite a few items from our list, including a couple of big ones. These changes are:
Movement speed tied to terrain incline
Female Fir Bog in game
Character mobility system when casting
Improved terrain shader
Client-side crash logging and sending to Database
Character persistence – position upon logout, health, kills, stats (stats in a second pass)
Interim ability editor (still needs “Abilities moved to Database” to function)
Sky parameters exposed to editor
So, the list is quickly heading in the right direction and the engine has a number of changes/improvements that are not even mentioned there such as Andrew’s new shadowing code and new debugging code (the code is getting even more solid and now we’re getting better data when things go wrong), Mike C’s new and improved effects, changes to the world in preparation for the opening of the PATs, etc. We also have a number of other items that are currently in “code review” so we may be able to check off another few items Monday/Tuesday of next week! Also, on Monday, Monday, Monday, we will be wiping characters…
We had hoped to have a large IT test of it today but well, we didn’t have time to make it happen. If all goes well, we will announce that test on Monday. As you can see from the list, we are making fine progress on things and we hope that you agree and are excited about the progress. Secondly, the new forums have been up and functioning quite well since their introduction so it’s safe to say that our new home for discussions, debates and the occasional rotten fruit toss is here to stay. As a matter of fact, for those who haven’t been to our forums lately, you might want to head over there and give them a look-see. For those who are especially interested in our Kickstarter VeilWalker/VeilStalker concept, there’s a two-part story that can be found in our Something to Think About section. The final bit of today’s update is Part II of our Becoming story about the Golems. You will find it at the end of this update.
Overall everything is going quite well, other than the usual bouts of illnesses traveling through the country and the studio. On the plus side, Tyler has returned to us from being quarantined at home for the last week or so!
